The days of "telegraphing" American military moves to the media—and by extension, our enemies—are officially over.

In a high-stakes briefing at the Pentagon Monday morning, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan "Razin" Caine laid out a new, steel-spined doctrine for the ongoing operations against the Iranian regime. For those looking for a "timetable" or a "nation-building" roadmap, the message from the podium was blunt: This is not the Iraq of the past, and we aren't playing by the old rules.

"This Is Not Iraq"

Secretary Hegseth, a combat veteran who saw the failures of previous "endless" conflicts firsthand, made it clear that Operation Epic Fury is a different breed of warfare. He chided a skeptical press pool, stating, "This is not Iraq. This is not endless. I was there for both. Our generation knows better, and so does this President."

Hegseth emphasized that while the goal is the total destruction of Iran’s offensive capabilities—including their navy and missile infrastructure—the U.S. has no intention of getting bogged down in "democracy-building quagmires."

Strategic Silence

Perhaps the most refreshing moment of the briefing came when Hegseth addressed the media's obsession with "knowing the plan." In a sharp departure from previous administrations that would detail withdrawal dates before the first shot was fired, Hegseth refused to provide a timeline.

"We are not going to tell the press about our plans, and we certainly aren't going to tell the enemy our plans," Hegseth remarked. He noted that while the operation "won't happen overnight," the President retains "all the latitude in the world" to move the timeline based on results, not political optics.

"No Aborts. Good Luck."

General Dan Caine, the F-16 fighter-pilot-turned-Chairman, reinforced this posture of strength. Caine revealed that when the President authorized the strikes, his directive was simple and lethal: "Operation Epic Fury is approved. No aborts. Good luck."

Caine warned that while the U.S. has already achieved massive successes—including the sinking of nine Iranian warships and the destruction of regime headquarters—the work is "just beginning." He emphasized that the military will continue to move with "decisive force" until the Iranian threat is neutralized, regardless of how long it takes.

The New Bottom Line

For the American people, the Hegseth-Caine briefing is a signal that the "Trump Doctrine" is in full effect. No more "stupid rules of engagement," no more telegraphed retreats, and no more trillion-dollar nation-building projects. We are in the Gulf to win, and we’re doing it on our own terms.

"We didn't start this war, but under President Trump, we are finishing it. Their war on Americans has become our retribution against their Ayatollah." — Secretary Pete Hegseth
